A Faith-Filled Beginning: Crafting Meaningful New Year’s Resolutions for Students
As we stand on the threshold of a new year, it’s a moment to reflect, reset, and envision a future filled with growth and purpose. For students, this is not just a time for personal aspirations but an opportunity to align resolutions with values that matter. In this blog post, let’s explore the art of crafting resolutions that resonate with Christian principles, aiming for transformative changes that make 2024 your best year yet.
Reflecting on the Journey
Before diving into resolutions, take a moment to reflect on the past year. How has your faith shaped your experiences, triumphs, and challenges? Reflecting on your spiritual journey will provide insights into areas where you can continue to strengthen your relationship with God and grow in faith.
Setting SMART Goals with Christian Values
Specific Goals for Each Subject: Instead of a broad resolution like “get better grades,” set specific academic goals for each subject. This could include improving your math problem-solving skills, reading more literature, or participating actively in class discussions, all while seeking wisdom and guidance from God in your studies.
Time Management Mastery: Enhance your time management skills by creating a realistic study schedule that allows for moments of prayer and reflection. Break down tasks into manageable chunks, set deadlines, and incorporate breaks to maintain focus and avoid burnout.
Spiritual Growth and Acts of Kindness
Daily Devotion and Prayer: Dedicate time each day to prayer and reflection, seeking God’s guidance in your decisions and endeavors.
Acts of Kindness: Make a resolution to perform intentional acts of kindness and service to others, embodying the Christian call to love and serve your neighbors.
Community and Fellowship Rooted in Faith
Active Church Engagement: Commit to active participation in your church community, not just as a routine but as a way to foster spiritual growth and connections with fellow believers.
Sharing Your Faith: Make a resolution to share your faith with others, whether through conversations, acts of kindness, or participating in outreach programs. Let your Christian values shine as a light for others.
Embracing Challenges with Faith
Trust in God’s Plan: Embrace a resolution to trust in God’s plan, especially when facing challenges. Cultivate a resilient faith that leans on the assurance that God works all things for the good of those who love Him.
Conclusion: A Year of Spiritual and Academic Transformation
As you pen down your resolutions for the coming year, remember that your faith is a guiding force in your journey. Embrace the transformative power of aligning your goals with Christian values, celebrate your spiritual growth, and trust that God’s grace will accompany you throughout the year. 2024 is your canvas, and these resolutions, rooted in Christian principles, are the brushstrokes that will shape a year of spiritual and academic transformation, compassion, and a deepened relationship with God.
What is a quality Christian education
A quality education is more than just acquiring knowledge; it is a transformative journey that empowers individuals with the tools to thrive in both personal and societal contexts. At its core, a quality education goes beyond rote memorization, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a holistic understanding of the world. It equips students with practical skills, such as effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability, which are essential for success in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
A quality education is inclusive, catering to diverse learning styles and backgrounds, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to unlock their full potential. It instills a lifelong love for learning and encourages curiosity, enabling individuals to remain curious, informed, and engaged citizens throughout their lives.
Furthermore, a quality Christian education instills a sense of purpose and a calling to contribute positively to society. It teaches students to apply Biblical principles to real-world challenges, promoting a holistic approach to problem-solving and decision-making that reflects their faith.
By cultivating a lifelong commitment to learning and a profound understanding of God’s plan for their lives, quality Christian education empowers individuals to lead purposeful, God-centered lives. It equips them not only with the skills they need to succeed but also with the values and virtues that reflect the teachings of the Savior, enabling them to make a meaningful impact in the world around them.

STEAM Education at DSA
STEAM education is an educational approach that integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. The goal of STEAM education is to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century.
One of the main benefits of STEAM education is that it helps students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These skills are essential for success in any field, and they are particularly important in the rapidly-changing world of science and technology. By encouraging students to think creatively and to approach problems from multiple angles, STEAM education helps students to become more adaptable and innovative.
Another benefit of STEAM education is that it helps to bridge the gap between academic subjects. Often, subjects like math and science are seen as being separate from art and humanities. However, STEAM education recognizes that these subjects are all interconnected and that they can be used together to solve real-world problems. This approach helps students to see the value in all subjects and to understand how they can be used in practical ways.
In addition to these benefits, STEAM education can also help to increase student engagement and motivation. Many students are more interested in hands-on, experiential learning, and STEAM education provides plenty of opportunities for this type of learning. By providing students with the chance to build, create, and design, STEAM education can help to keep them engaged and motivated to learn.
Overall, STEAM education is a valuable approach to education that can help students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It also helps to bridge the gap between academic subjects and can increase student engagement and motivation. As the world becomes increasingly reliant on science and technology, it is more important than ever to provide students with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century, and STEAM education is one way to do this.

Critical Race Theory and How to Fight It
“Critical Race Theory and How to Fight It” published in Hillsdale College’s Imprimis:
Have you wondered, what is Critical Race Theory (CRT)? Why has CRT become so divisive in today’s society? Are schools really categorizing students into “oppressed” and “oppressor” categories? Dayspring’s mission is to unify, support, and value each of God’s children.

Benefits of Daily Reading
It’s the end of the day and everyone is tired. We’ve had a full day of school and work, picked up from jump rope practice, finished homework, cooked dinner and cleaned up the kitchen, even managed to get a load of laundry done – we just don’t have time to do twenty minutes of reading tonight! Ever had this thought at the end of a long day? Don’t worry, we all have. But skipping the reading today will lead to skipping the reading tomorrow and before we know it, a whole week, month, or year of daily reading has slipped through our fingertips.
The importance of reading every day with your child can’t be stressed enough. The benefits are numerous and the outcomes are priceless. Reading with your child for twenty minutes every day strengthens cognitive thinking, increases attention span, builds empathy, grows vocabulary, and creates a love of reading they will carry with them for a lifetime. There is an incredible difference in overall academic achievement between a child who reads daily and one who does not. There is massive amounts of research showing the link between daily reading and high achievement scores. Want your child to be in the upper percentile of learners? Read, read together.
Read a novel, read an informational text, read what interests your child. Does cooking intrigue your young one? Find a cookbook, read the recipes, and enjoy some time in the kitchen. Have a child who loves trains? Go to the library and find some amazing books about the history of the American railroad. The possibilities are endless – the adventures are splendid.
There is no better time to read with your child than right before bed time. Wait until their homework is done, their tummies are full, their baths are taken, and it is time to settle in for the night. Cozy up with a good book and enjoy some bonding time before the close of the day. You read a page and your child read a page – do this together! Remember to leave time to discuss what you’ve read. Who is ready for a trip to the library?

Educating Youth in America’s Founding Principles
Are you concerned about the direction of our Country? Do you fear that our founding principles and freedoms are going to be lost if the education system continues the divisive course ushered in by those outside of the system? Are we teaching the differences between Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto and the United States’ Constitution? Is the education system instilling a love of Country and pride for the freedoms God has blessed us with, or are students being taught to become activists against our Founding documents?
The United States’ education system is at a breaking point. Students are continually being taught socialism and even communism are government systems based on equality. Many teachers fail to mention the horrors of Communist rule by Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Castro, Mao, and more. Unfortunately, too many teachers associate as socialists’ activists and bring that ideology into the classroom. Marx believed that socialism was but a precursor to communism.

At Dayspring we adamantly oppose the idea that America’s founding principles are inherently flawed. It is these principles that provided President Lincoln the ability to fight slavery’s inhumane injustices. It is these principles that allowed Congress to pass the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act in the 1960s. It is these principles that have since allowed men and women of all color to achieve the American dream – to find their passion and pursue their own happiness. With God’s divine intervention, the Founders wrote documents that have protected freedom for the people and guided us in difficult times. The United States’ history is not perfect. There have been challenges and grievous attacks on mankind.

What makes the United States different from so many other places to live? The founding documents have provided a way to correct these injustices. We at Dayspring believe in the United States’s Constitution and Bill of Rights. We believe understanding these documents juxtaposed with socialism and communism is fundamental in securing these rights for future generations. Our goal is to provide in-depth studies into our founding documents where students walk away appreciating the freedoms we are blessed with while also realizing how easily these freedoms can disappear. It is our job as educators to ensure that future generations understand why our governing documents are timeless and critical to maintain freedom. A Dayspring education respects and upholds America’s founding documents.
Investing in Your Child’s Education
At Dayspring, we understand that paying private school tuition can be challenging financially for families. However, so many believe that this challenge is certainly worth the effort. And we agree, but we also know it is imperative that those who wish for their children to be at a private school have that opportunity. Therefore, we have many fundraising organizations that work tirelessly to keep our tuition as low as possible while offering an education second to none.
Oftentimes families don’t believe they can afford a private school. But at Dayspring, tuition is approximately $450 per month – that’s a car payment! Truly – it is about financial prioritization. So, what is the benefit of a private school, specifically at Dayspring Academy? Why should you prioritize elementary, middle, and high school education over a Disney vacation, a new car, or that new kitchen you’ve been dreaming of?
A child’s education will follow him or her forever. It is often at school that a child creates habits exhibited in college and the workforce. Responsibility, organization, knowledge, collaboration, and communication are a few skills that are taught and practiced at DSA. Most importantly, DSA students focus on Godly characteristics and Christian attributes such as respect, care for one’s neighbor, faith in God, devotion to prayer, and daily Scripture analysis in Bible class. These are critical components of a youth’s education and spiritual development.

Horace Mann, founder of the common school movement, believed that school systems should reinforce Biblical moral teachings. Today’s society encourages students to explore all lifestyles and engage in conversations that emphasize this world’s standards over Christian morals. At Dayspring we find it critical to focus on being more like our Savior. This is the very reason DSA exists – to provide a wholesome Christian environment where students can grow academically while still nurturing a Godly way of life. Life is but a vapor – we must use every breath for Him. You will find DSA faculty prayerfully work with each student to make the most of every opportunity God has provided us with in this life.
Invest not only in an education that sets your child or youth on a successful path, but invest in an education where spiritual growth and devotion to God is front and center.
